Pricing Model

Samsung originally said Galaxy AI would be free only "until the end of 2025," which left the future genuinely uncertain. That question has since been resolved: Samsung has confirmed that its core, built-in Galaxy AI features, including Live Translate, Generative Edit, and Note Assist, will remain free indefinitely on supported devices, with no subscription attached. The one feature that sits in a slightly different category is Circle to Search, which is built jointly with Google rather than being a Samsung-only tool, so it is not as clearly covered by that same free-forever commitment. Future advanced features or third-party AI integrations may still carry separate pricing.

My Take

Galaxy AI is a practical set of built-in conveniences for owners of supported Galaxy flagships, but it is of no use to people on older Samsung models or other smartphone platforms. One real caveat: even among "supported" devices, not every feature behaves identically, since some of the more demanding on-device AI tools need the newer, faster chips found in the latest models, so an older supported phone may get a slower or more limited version of a feature than a brand-new one.
